Accelerated Reader Reading Incentive Program (AR)

AR is an online reading incentive program that enables students (grade 1 - 5) to read books, then complete a multiple choice quiz over the book's content. Volunteers are needed to assist with recording AR points, tracking progress and rewarding students with stickers. Work with teachers and other volunteers. When: throughout the school year.

Art Department

Volunteer will help hang and take down art in the Clayton hallways. When: throughout the school year.

Art Fundraiser

Volunteers will help collect and collate orders for the onetime school fundraiser. When: October

Book Fair

Volunteers are needed to help decorate, set up and take down book fair items and help the days of the events to assist students and act as cashier. On the job training provided. Most shifts 1-2 hours. When: Fall and Spring, 1-2 hour shifts.

Box Tops

Clayton "Box Tops for Education" program, sponsored by General Mills, is a program that allows our school to earn funds by having our families clip, shop and charge items that they would normally buy anyway. When: throughout the school year.

Clayton's Cultural Celebration (C3)

Clayton's Cultural Celebration is an evening celebrating the diversity of our Clayton families. A variety of countries and cultures from across the globe are highlighted with dancers performing from various heritages such as India, tunes of countries such as Mexico, and a worldwide pot luck supper and much more. Cultures and traditions showcased will depend on the Clayton community as each of us comes forward to share and honor our cultural backgrounds. Community Support/Perez Elementary Sister School Program

The mission of this program is to provide items to enrich the education and lives of the children at Perez Elementary (Clayton’s sister school), and to foster a sense of community and charity in our children. Volunteers may work with counselors and assist with other needs as determined. When: throughout the school year

Dudes of Cardinals (DOCS)

The goal of this program is to encourage active involvement of male figures in their children's lives because it does have a lasting and positive impact. All male figures in students' lives are encouraged to volunteer. Volunteers will help plan, organize and attend special events such as bringing your Cardinal to school, having breakfast together, meeting for lunch, going to book fair, helping in class, and more. The Clayton Directory is a secure online tool provided by the PTA for faculty, students and parents. Clayton parents submit their own information and may make changes as needed throughout the year. Supporting businesses in our community will be represented by ads. Volunteers will facilitate smooth implementation of the directory and maintain advertising by current sponsors. When: Fall

Fun Run & Celebration Fundraiser

This is Clayton's biggest (& most fun) campus event of the year. The monies raised by both the PTA and administration during this event are used to meet the many needs of the campus and student body. Green Apple Deposit Program

Clayton Elementary has partnered with A+ Federal Credit Union to offer savings accounts to our children. Deposit days are held once per month at school that allows children to make deposits into their accounts. 5th grade students volunteer as tellers. This is a great program to teach your children the importance of saving money and money management. 5th grade tellers learn check writing, math, and accountability skills. Landscaping/Property Development

The Landscaping Committee works to beautify the campus and help keep our Clayton Cardinals safe. Volunteers help clear land, seed, make trails and improve landscape. Families, including kids, are involved in most work days. When: 2 - 5 work days per year

Labels for Education

Labels for Education® is a fun and easy program where families “Earn Free Stuff” for their school by collecting UPCs and beverage caps/sauce caps from over 2,500 participating products. Your school earns points that can be redeemed for Arts, Athletics, and Academics merchandise. The coordinator will work with the school in managing the account, program coordination, point collection, and redeeming points for merchandise for the school. When: throughout the school year

Library Helper

Provide assistance to library staff by shelving books and other tasks as directed by the librarian. Volunteers are needed every day, especially with lower grade levels. One day a week or every other week with a 2 hour shift is preferred. When: throughout the school year

Lost and Found

A collection of items left behind by students. The volunteer will coordinate monthly review of the lost and found items, returning labeled items to students. Provide monthly viewing of articles and donate unclaimed articles to community. When: Fall and Spring

Partners in Education

Partners In Education is an independent AISD program that works directly with the district and/or individual schools. It enables business and community partners to help and work with local schools both with financial and volunteer needs. Help is needed with paperwork, grant writing, coordinating and communicating, restaurant nights, maintaining the PIE bulletin board and contacting current and new business partners. PTA Book Exchange

Exchange your gently used books at this PTA event. When: January/February

Reflections/Arts in Education

Reflections is a national PTA sponsored, arts-in-education recognition program that encourages children to express themselves through literature, art, music, photography, dance and film/video. Volunteers are needed to assist in promoting Reflections, check in entries, secure judges, assist with awards. When: November/December

Room Parent Coordinator

The main job is to help your child's teacher and classmates coordinate with parents to plan parties/ celebrations,collect for staff gifts and get started on the class auction basket. When: throughout the school year

School Supplies

Work with teachers to get supply lists, coordinate with supply vendor, ask for and receive orders. Supply pick-up event before school starts. When: Set up, Begining of summer, trouble shoot through out the summer

Science Needs/Science Fair

Check science kits in and out. Volunteers will also assist with science experiments in classroom as well as assisting with the Science Fair in January. When: January

Signage

Clayton Elementary is in need of signs to identify all the vegetation on campus as an extension of Clayton's learning environment. Anyone with knowledge of native plants or an interest in the outdoors would be great at aiding this project. In addition, anyone with knowledge of local insects and wildlife would also be an asset in providing additional information for discovery learning opportunities. Volunteers would help identify vegetation and wildlife, design signs, seek signage providers, and help organize the labeling of Clayton's great outdoors. When: throughout the school year

SOAR Reading Program

Students on Adventures in Reading (SOAR), is an important volunteer based program designed to give individual students help in reading. This program supports the teachers and students in 2nd – 5th grades. Children are selected to participate based on their benchmark scores. SOAR students do not typically have a reading disability, but just needs practice. Volunteer “mentors” read with a child, cheering them on, and giving them the special attention they need. **requires a background check** (click here for more information). Teacher Appreciation

Honors Clayton teachers and staff. Supported by the PTA and parent donations. Volunteers are needed to help organize events throughout the year. When: throughout the school year

Track & Field Day

This is a school wide spring fundraiser for the PE Department to purchase new equipment. Includes getting snacks to sell in the concession stand during the event, coordinating the concession stand and volunteers for the two event days. Track and Field day is a fun day for the students. VIP Room

The VIP room provides services for our staff and teachers including copying, laminating, binding and more. Providing this valuable service gives our fabulous teachers the precious gift of time! Volunteer duties include cutting, copying, die-cuts and laminating are some of the things you will do to help the teachers at Clayton. You will be trained on all the machines (it is a requirement). You will have a partner to work with. When: year-round, one day a week for 1 -2 hours. The times are very flexible; we can work with your schedule.
